CNN was publicly embarrassed when they tried to attack this top Republican.
Democrats are outraged that footage from the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was released to Fox News host Tucker Carlson and CNN is angry that other journalists are doing their job.
A CNN reporter questioned House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on whether he regretted allowing Carlson to see the footage.
“Because of the footage that you gave Tucker Carlson, last night he went on and said this was a mostly peaceful chaos as he said, he downplayed Brian Sicknick’s death, said it was not related to January 6, that this was not an insurrection,” CNN’s Manu Raju said. “Do you regret giving him those [tapes] so he could whitewash the events of that day?”
“No. I said at the very beginning, ‘transparency,’” McCarthy said. “And so what I wanted to produce for everybody is exactly what I said, people can actually look at it and see what’s gone on that day.”
The reporter then asked if McCarthy agreed with Carlson’s portrayal of what happened on January 6th, to which McCarthy said, “Each person can come up with their own conclusion.”
“But I just wanted to make sure I had transparency, because I know on CNN, I mean, I had here where you guys actually wrote where we were,” McCarthy continued as he held up the printed off CNN report. “This was a secret location … I don’t know if you got concerned by that, I don’t even know from a point of view of security if we could ever be taken there again. But when you broke that at CNN, that was a real concern to a lot of people.”
President Joe Biden and other Democrats are using a false concern for police in order to condemn House Republicans on Wednesday for allowing Carlson to air footage.
“More than 140 officers were injured on Jan 6,” Biden said in a tweet. “I’ve said before: How dare anyone diminish or deny the hell they went through? I stand with the [Capitol Police]. I hope House Republicans feel ashamed for what was done to undermine our law enforcement.”
But Democrats are unwilling to consider why the Capitol Police lacked appropriate resources on January 6th.
A fired Capitol Police officer, Tarik Johnson, who helped evacuate the Capitol on January 6th told Fox News that supervisors went radio silent when problems arose.
“The person that I thought was going to authorize the evacuation … didn’t do it,” Johnson said, stating that he called multiple times over the radio to try and get in touch with his superiors, requesting for permission to evacuate the Senate side of the Capitol.
Johnson says he never got a reply and eventually began escorting the senators to safety on his own.
Democrats don’t want to give the Capitol Police the answers that they deserve. Democrats don’t want to give the American people the answers they deserve. They use excuse after excuse to avoid transparency, and CNN is actually helping them.
