President Donald Trump thought he could count on the support of every Republican to defeat the Democrats’ impeachment witch hunt.
But Donald Trump just got some really bad news.
And that’s because a top Republican stabbed Trump in the back in the middle of impeachment.
RINO Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson announced his retirement and that he intended to leave the Senate by December 31 to allow Republican Governor Brian Kemp to appoint a replacement that could run as an incumbent in the 2020 election when Isakson’s term expired.
Kemp only won the GOP nomination and Gubernatorial Election because Donald Trump endorsed him, so the President and his supporters expected Kemp to appoint a strong conservative and Trump supporter.
Instead, Kemp intends to nominate women’s professional basketball team owner and Mitt Romney loyalist Kelly Loeffler to the seat because Kemp thinks a liberal woman stands a better chance of appealing to suburban voters in 2020.
Conservatives were infuriated by rumors of Kemp appointing Loeffler.
Loeffler donated $750,000 to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign but was a Never Trumper in 2016 by refusing to give even one penny to Trump’s campaign.
In addition, Loeffler – who owns a team in the radical left women’s professional basketball league where the radical feminist and homosexual players routinely protest Donald Trump – joined the “Take a Seat, Take a Stand” program the women’s basketball league supported.
Under that program, the league funneled five dollars from every ticket sold to Planned Parenthood and other left-wing and anti-American groups.
Kemp felt the heat from conservatives – especially after the Wall Street Journal reported President Trump personally told Kemp he did not approve of the appointment in an Oval Office meeting – and tried to defend appointing the left-wing Loeffler on social media.
“I stand with hardworking Georgians and @POTUS. The idea that I would appoint someone to the U.S. Senate that is NOT pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-freedom, and 100% supportive of our President (and his plan to Keep America Great) is ridiculous,” Kemp wrote.
“The attacks and games are absolutely absurd. Frankly, I could care less what the political establishment thinks. Happy Thanksgiving! More information after the holiday!” Kemp added.
Trump supporters like Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz did not buy Kemp’s explanation and could not believe Kemp would send a Senator to Washington that was not completely loyal to Donald Trump.
“@realDonaldTrump told you how to be supportive: Appoint @RepDougCollins You are ignoring his request because you THINK you know better than @POTUS. If you substitute your judgement for the President’s, maybe you need a primary in 2022. Let’s see if you can win one w/o Trump,” Gaetz wrote.
Kemp’s appointment took on outsized importance because whoever the Governor chose would likely serve as a juror in a Senate impeachment trial.
Never Trumpers and Democrats were licking their chops at the thought of an anti-Trump Senator joining the Republican caucus.
As a Mitt Romney RINO Republican, Loeffler immediately becomes one of the prime suspects to betray the President and vote to convict on articles of impeachment.
