Since his first day in Congress, Trey Gowdy has been one of the loudest fighters against the left.
But as of this week, he is no longer in Congress.
And he just announced his new line of work.
There is nobody in Congress Democrats have been more afraid of than Trey Gowdy.
Being elected in 2010, he was brought on as a Tea Party Republican.
And he has been at the forefront of countless major battles against the Democrats.
He first came to fame as the Chairman of the House Benghazi Committee.
Clips of Gowdy grilling Hillary Clinton exposed her for her failures in responding to the attack, resulting in the deaths of four Americans.
It is his committee that birthed the infamous quote from Hillary, asking “What difference does it make?” in response to questioning about the cause of the Benghazi attack.
And after the end of the Benghazi committee, Gowdy took helm of the House Oversight Committee.
Through his position, he has been able to grill virtually every major figure in the anti-Trump deep state.
Every time these figures, including James Comey and Peter Strzok, have been in front of his committee, they have been forced to spill the truth about their corruption.
But now he is leaving Congress, a move sure to be upsetting to conservatives across the country.
There has been much speculation about what he will do now that he’s out of Congress.
But now we have the answer to that question.
He is going to work at the law and lobbying firm he had spent years with before getting into politics.
The firm, Nelson Mullins, is located in his home state of South Carolina.
Gowdy announced the move just minutes after his successor took office.
“I am very excited to join Nelson Mullins, a firm with a rich, deep, and diverse team of talented attorneys and a reputation for excellence in all facets of the law,” Gowdy said in a statement issued through the firm.
Congress will never be the same without Gowdy.
A few of his highlights include fierce questioning with former IRS official Lois Lerner, former CIA Director John Brennan, and disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok.
His recent grilling of Strzok allowed him to finish up his career on a high note.
Strzok is the former FBI agent who was one of the lead officials in Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, and in Mueller’s Russia collusion investigation, prior to his removal.
Mueller was forced to remove him from his special counsel investigation due to unearthed text messages showing a strongly-held bias against the president.
In front of his committee, Gowdy was able to expose the corruption of Strzok.
Gowdy questioned Strzok on if Mueller’s firing of him was due to his bias.
Strzok attempted to talk his way around the questioning; instead saying that he doesn’t appreciate the questioning.
Gowdy angrily shot back, saying, “I don’t give a damn what you appreciate Agent Strzok.”
“I don’t appreciate having an FBI agent with an unprecedented level of animus working on two major investigations during 2016,” Gowdy continued.
These are the sort of responses one would expect from President Trump, making Gowdy somebody Trump’s supporters loved to have around.
