Nancy Pelosi’s entire agenda for the next two years is to attack President Trump.
She is hoping that will be enough to defeat him in 2020.
But Trump is having none of it, and just blew up at Pelosi for one epic reason.
President Trump is done playing around when it comes to border security.
He has the government shut down to give him leverage in negotiations to finally fix the border crisis.
Trump is simply trying to get $5.7 billion in funding to build a wall on the border.
That shouldn’t be an issue, considering that illegal immigration already costs U.S. taxpayers upwards of $200 billion a year.
A wall will set up a solid barrier between Mexico and the United States, which will make entry much more difficult.
Other countries have walls, including Israel, and they are proven to work.
In the case of Israel, they have a much more direct threat on the other side of their borders.
Palestinian terrorists are constantly trying to attack Israel simply for existing.
But, in part due to their wall, terrorists are largely unsuccessful.
Despite it being clear that walls work, Democrats are working overtime to prevent Trump from winning on this issue.
It is his top issue, so if he is successful, it will be the biggest win in his presidency.
Democrats will have a hard time defeating him come 2020 if he is able to achieve his biggest promise.
So even with the government shut down, Democrats are not giving in to President Trump.
On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made that clear.
The Wednesday meeting was announced during Trump’s national address the day before and was meant to be a productive meeting where an end to the shutdown can be worked out.
But Pelosi immediately made it clear she wasn’t interested in making any deal.
She told the President that she will not allow the border wall to be funded, even if an agreement to open the government is made.
So instead of sticking around, President Trump slammed his hands on the table, and walked out, simply saying “bye-bye.”
Trump outlined exactly what happened in the meeting on Twitter:
“Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!”
Trump clearly understands that nothing of value was going to come from that meeting.
He outlines what to do in that situation in his famous book, The Art Of The Deal, saying:
“Know when to walk away from the table.”
Trump is taking his own advice and realizing that he is going to get nothing of value from Pelosi currently.
Trying to make a deal in the face of the hostility at the meeting would be disastrous.
So you can expect the President to wait until he is in a more friendly negotiation environment.
He is a master when it comes to negotiation, and almost certainly has something up his sleeve.
Do you think Trump will succeed in building a wall?
