The Democrat field of candidates looking to challenge Trump is a circus at this point.
Just as it seems like it couldn’t get any crazier it does.
And now a top Trump challenger got campaign-ending news from the last person imaginable.
While Joe Biden is the clear top candidate at this point in the Democrat field, Bernie Sanders has been a consistent second.
His brand of socialism is proving to be popular among many Democrats.
This is proven by the election of Representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez popped up out of nowhere to become one of the leading voices in the Democrat Party.
In many ways, she is more popular than even Sanders, who is the first Democrat to make socialism mainstream in the party.
But her rise to power didn’t happen overnight.
And the group behind the rise is called Justice Democrats, which has close ties to Sanders.
Many of his most ardent supporters and campaign staff are behind the new group which supports socialists running as Democrats.
Among them is Ocasio-Cortez, who until recently was on the board of the group.
So it would make sense that Ocasio-Cortez would be supporting Sander’s campaign for president.
But a new report from the Los Angeles Times shows that she may have her eyes on another Democrat gunning for presidency.
The report outlines the growing relationship between Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren, who serves in the Senate alongside Sanders.
Warren, while not as radical as Sanders, has been able to maintain mainstream support, while courting some of the more extreme elements in the party.
But one group that doesn’t always have great things to say about Warren is Justice Democrats.
The group generally supports Warren but has clashed with her in the past.
But in the case of Sanders, he is truly the backbone of their group.
It is his 2016 campaign that led towards the creation of the group.
Warren, while usually being on their side, is not their strongest ally, and clearly has never been a large enough figure to create their group.
So the fact that Ocasio-Cortez is palling up with Warren, and that there is doubt behind her throwing support behind Sanders in the primary is bad news for the socialist Senator.
In a recent interview, she even openly brought up the possibility of a Warren endorsement.
“What I would like to see in a presidential candidate is one that has a coherent worldview and logic from which all these policy proposals are coming forward,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I think Sen. Sanders has that. I also think Sen. Warren has that.”
Ocasio-Cortez endorsing Warren would almost certainly crush Sanders’ campaign.
And she knows that.
She is likely letting time go by before throwing her coveted endorsement out.
Warren is almost ten years younger than Sanders and is a woman.
One of the latest major efforts among Justice Democrats is pushing forward women in politics.
The majority of the candidates they are championing are women, making it conceivable that Sanders’ only setback from an Ocasio-Cortez endorsement is his gender.
