Democrats came out of the midterm elections crowing.
Even though their blue wave failed to materialize, they still won the House of Representatives.
But their happy talk came to an end when Donald Trump shut down any impeachment plans with one tweet.
Democrats Brag they Investigate Trump
California Democrat Adam Schiff is now the incoming chair of the House Intelligence Committee.
He spent the last two years running to CNN to spread conspiracy theories and misinformation about the Russian collusion hoax.
Critics also believe Schiff and staff repeatedly engaged in illegal leaks of classified information to try and frame the Trump campaign for collusion.
In a recent interview, Schiff threatened to investigate Trump over Russian money and his private business deals.
“The president has sought to keep that off limits, but if that’s the leverage Russians pose that’s a real threat to our country,” Schiff told The Los Angeles Times in a pre-election interview.
At a pre-election rally, he vowed endless obstruction and investigation of the Trump administration.
“We’ve had a Congress completely unwilling to do its job, to be a co-equal branch of government, unwilling to push back against the basic indecency of this person in the Oval Office,” Schiff declared.
Trump tweeted:
If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level. Two can play that game!
Trump repeated this threat in a Wednesday news conference.
He said if the Democrats tried to drown his administration in investigations it would lead to conflict.
“If they do that, then it’s just a war-like posture,” Trump declared.
Democrat Voters Want Blood
Democrats were not elected to work with Trump.
Their voters sent them to Washington to obstruct and destroy.
Pelosi and Schumer’s goal is to fool the American people into thinking Trump is a corrupt and bumbling failure.
They see that as their path back to the White House in 2020.
If Democrats work with Trump and deliver victories on core Trump promises, it will only boost Trump’s political standing ahead of his 2020 re-election.
There is little chance Democrats will work with Trump.
A perfect example is the December fight over border wall funding.
Funding for the Department of Homeland Security runs out on December 7th.
Trump stated in a Wednesday press conference that he wants the wall fully funded.
Will Senate Democrats – who claim they are in favor of border security – give the Republicans nine votes to fund the wall?
Or will Democrats obstruct and try and run out the clock until the Democrat House majority takes over in January?
That would end any chance of Congress funding the border wall.
Democrats’ version of bipartisanship is the Republicans agree to all of their demands.
Will things be different now that Donald Trump is on the other side of the negotiating table?
