Until 2015, Harry Reid served as Senate Majority Leader.
He is very much to the left and stands in opposition to President Trump.
But Trump just used his own words against him, and it could end the migrant caravan.
Trump Is Going To End Birthright Citizenship
Speaking to Axios, Trump indicated he is going to do away with birthright citizenship.
And after speaking to counsel, he believes it can be done with nothing more than an executive order.
Birthright citizenship grants citizenship to anybody born in the United States.
So all an illegal immigrant needs to do is birth their child on U.S. soil for their child to become a U.S. citizen.
This means that if the illegal migrant caravan crosses the border, they have a way to gain citizenship for their children.
This policy stems from the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment.
And its adoption came after the Civil War.
It was a way to grant freed slaves U.S. citizenship.
Its intention was never to allow illegal migrants to gain citizenship by birthing their children on U.S. soil.
So Trump has good reason to do away with it.
Needless to say, Democrats are furious at this move.
But one Democrat who shouldn’t be furious is former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Harry Reid May Save Trump, And Destroy The Caravan
Reid ended his career much farther left than he started it.
Being a senator in Nevada, he had to be more moderate than one in a more left-wing state like California.
And on immigration, at points he went so far he sounds like Trump.
On birthright citizenship, he was entirely with the current president as the 90’s.
He introduced the Immigration Stabilization Act in 1993 to revoke birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Arguing in support, he said that birthright citizenship gives “incentive for pregnant alien women to enter the United States illegally.”
He further argues they are doing so “for the purpose of acquiring citizenship for the child and accompanying federal financial benefits.”
That’s a similar argument to what Trump is saying now.
So in Trump-like fashion, he tweeted a video of Reid’s argument.
Harry Reid, when he was sane, agreed with us on Birthright Citizenship! pic.twitter.com/ypiE1QWKag

That video is sure to prove that what he wants to do isn’t an extreme position.
The left wants to make it seem as though he is doing something extremely drastic.
But in reality, it is an issue many on the left agree with.
It is a common sense idea that deserves to be heard.
Birthright Citizenship Is Incentivizing The Caravan
The caravan coming to the border sees birthright citizenship as a benefit of entering the U.S.
They can easily stop in Mexico, and gain asylum.
But the U.S. has a lot more.
It is the biggest welfare state in the world.
If their child gains citizenship, they immediately gain access to welfare programs.
It is a way to get around the current system.
But Trump is putting an end to it.
Do you think birthright citizenship should come to an end?
