President Trump is gearing up for re-election.
And his path to victory just got a lot bigger.
This huge blue state that Hillary Clinton won in 2016 could flip red in 2020.
President Trump’s re-election campaign is already underway.
But while the President’s campaign strategists look at the map to get Trump to 270 electoral votes – the number needed to become President – it seems like their job just got a lot easier.
Virginia, a major state which President Trump lost to Hillary Clinton in 2016, is now in play.
And it’s all because of a trifecta of massive Democratic scandals that have left the state’s liberal wing in disarray.
Virginia had previously voted Republican overwhelmingly before Barack Obama won the state in 2008.
Since then, Republicans have only won one statewide election, shortly after Obama won in 2009.
Yet President Trump sees an opening after Virginia’s Democratic Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General were all implicated in three massive scandals.
The first to get hit was Democratic Governor Ralph Northam, whose comments supporting late term abortion, even up to the point of birth, left millions of Americans sick to their stomachs.
It got worse for Northam as it was shortly thereafter revealed that he had placed a photo in his school yearbook that included him wearing either blackface or a KKK robe.
Almost immediately, calls for his resignation echoed across Virginia, including from the state’s Democratic Party, which was left in disarray.
Northam’s approval rating has since crashed completely, and he’s now one of the most hated governors in the country.
Among those who called for Northam’s resignation were Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring, who soon after revealed that he too wore blackface while in college.
Yet Herring himself has no plans to resign, as his naked ambition to become Governor in 2021 revealed itself.
Herring’s political future may be completely ruined though, thanks to the blackface scandal plus his own massive hypocrisy in calling for Northam’s resignation while knowing he did the same thing.
Perhaps the worst hit of the three was Democratic Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, who was accused of raping and sexually assaulting two separate women, both of whom are fellow Democrats.
One of his accusers is even a Democratic Party activist.
Fairfax has been placed on leave by his job, while the legislature contemplates impeaching him from office.
Fairfax’s accusations may even land him in prison if the allegations are proven to be true.
And like Herring, his plans to run for Governor in 2021 now appear shattered.
All of these scandals has placed Virginia on President Trump’s radar.
Trump now thinks he can win Virginia after Democrats blew their 10-year winning streak in the state with these three scandals.
And he may be right.
If he wins Virginia in 2020, President Trump’s path to the White House is much easier.
In fact, it could guarantee his re-election.
