President Trump just got hit with news that could spell doom for him in 2020.
And it’s all centered over one shock poll.
What Fox News is reporting could be a massive warning sign for Trump’s re-election chances.
President Donald Trump has routinely pointed to poll numbers to show how successful his Presidential campaign, as well as his time in the White House, has been.
From clobbering his Republican rivals in the 2016 primary race, to stunning Hillary Clinton and the Democrats in the general election by flipping a host of ancestral blue states, to presiding over one of the greatest eras of economic prosperity since World War II, Trump has constantly had polling on his side.
But one new poll from Fox News just threw everything into disarray.
And it shows that the President may be vulnerable in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election.
With Trump posting record lows with respect to his approval rating and his standing against most of the Democratic field, the President’s advisers and campaign staff are likely about to enter full-panic mode.
And while there’s plenty of time for the President to turn things around, the latest Fox News poll should be a major warning sign for Trump with just under a year and a half before the next election.
The Hill reports, “President Trump’s disapproval rating has jumped to 56 percent in a Fox News survey released Wednesday, just one point shy of the record high in Fox News polling. The survey found a 5 percentage point increase in Trump’s disapproval from last month. The only time his disapproval rating was higher, according to Fox News, was when it reached 57 percent in October 2017.”
The poll is very bad news for Trump, and will likely end up triggering multiple alarms at his campaign headquarters.
And it is a sign that he needs to turn his approval ratings around quickly if he hopes to defeat his Democratic rival in the upcoming 2020 election.
With Trump’s approval rating underwater, it will make it harder for him to win re-election.
The only thing the Democrats would have to do under such a scenario is simply win over voters who already are telling pollsters they disapprove of the President’s job performance, and they’ll win.
Meanwhile, Trump will have to win over voters who say they dislike the job he is doing by making the Democratic nominee even less likeable.
While this may not be difficult to do with the Democrats engaged in a campaign to see who can run the furthest to the left to win the nomination, Trump’s campaign does have its work cut out for itself.
“President Trump’s disapproval rating has jumped to 56 percent in a Fox News survey released Wednesday, just one point shy of the record high in Fox News polling. The survey found a 5 percentage point increase in Trump’s disapproval from last month. The only time his disapproval rating was higher, according to Fox News, was when it reached 57 percent in October 2017,” adds The Hill.
