President Trump is an expert at destroying his political enemies.
With just one tweet, he can crush anybody who stands against him.
And Trump just torched a top CNN reporter with one epic tweet.
Of all the anchors at CNN, there may be none that are as far-left as Chris Cuomo.
His brother is the current Governor of New York, with his father holding that position before him.
And Cuomo doesn’t hide his far-left views while on-air and has even defended the violent left-wing extremist group “Antifa” in the past.
But while he loves to throw attacks at the left, a video recently recorded shows that he can’t take the same attacks.
A video was released showing Cuomo responding to a man who called him “Fredo.”
“My name is Chris Cuomo,” he says in the video. “I’m an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from ‘The Godfather.’ He was that weak brother. And they use it as an Italian aspersion.”
But while it may have started calm, he quickly exploded in his reaction.
“I’ll f***ing ruin your sh*t,” Cuomo said. “I’ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk. … Take a swing, c’mon boy.” As the man argues back and others crowd around them, Cuomo continues, “You want to call me sh*t, call me sh*t then. I’m f***ing right here. I’ll f***ing wreck your sh*t. You didn’t know what you were doing when you called me Fredo?”
Cuomo then went on with his expletive-filled rant to explain why he was so insulted.
“Fredo is from ‘The Godfather.’ He was a weak brother,” Cuomo explains. “And they use it as an Italian aspersion. Any of you Italian? It’s a f***ing insult to the people.”
After explaining the insult, Cuomo takes things even further claiming that ‘Fredo’ is “like the N-word for” Italians.
Cuomo has faced harsh criticism for the rant, specifically the claim that Fredo is “like the N-Word.”
While calling him “Fredo” is an insult, there is no racial connotation to it.
Cuomo’s brother Andrew is the Governor of New York, and his father held that position previously as well.
It is clear that by calling him “Fredo,” they are referring to the character on the Godfather, who was the least successful of the Corleone crime family.
So the criticism of that claim was shifted.
But many on the left stood with him, including his employer.
CNN responded to the incident in a statement from their spokesman, Matt Dornic, who said, “Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him.”
But of all the responses, none were as harsh as President Donald Trump.
“Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!”
Of course, Trump is referring to “Red flag” gun laws, which many states are adopting.
Those laws are used to bypass due process and allow a judge to singlehandedly decide if somebody’s guns should be taken away, without any real due process.
It’s not inconceivable to imagine that one insane rant like that could get somebody “red flagged.”
Trump is not only poking fun at Cuomo, but he is pointing out a very real flaw when it comes to red flag laws.
Do you oppose red flag laws?
