Adam Schiff truly believes he will be able to remove President Trump from office.
That’s why he’s pushing full speed ahead with his phony impeachment hearings.
But Trump’s face lit up after Schiff made the biggest mistake of his career.
From a strategic standpoint, Adam Schiff is wise to hold his impeachment proceedings in secret.
It is already clear that the claims from the so-called “whistleblower” were overblown, and that Trump never did anything deserving of impeachment.
So if Schiff were to have his proceedings in the open, that would quickly become clear to the American people.
With everything being secret, Schiff is able to selectively release information to support his narrative, and he is also able to get away with pulling off shady maneuvers, like coaching witnesses, which Rep. Devin Nunes accuses him of doing.
But now that all could change with Schiff announcing the first open hearings, which will occur next week.
“Those open hearings will be an opportunity for the American people to evaluate the witnesses for themselves, to make their own determinations about the credibility of the witnesses,” Schiff told reporters Wednesday.
Schiff is surprisingly doing the right thing, but he will almost certainly come to regret the decision to open up the hearings.
Democrats and their allies are well-known for making fools of themselves when testifying publicly.
This became most apparent when special counsel Robert Mueller was pulled before Congress to face questioning.
While facing dozens of questions, Mueller had trouble answering even the simplest ones presented to him.
The person that the Democrats had been counting on for two years to destroy President Trump came across as a bumbling idiot, destroying any credibility he had left at that point.
And he isn’t the only leftist to make a fool of himself when testifying.
When facing questions relating to the Benghazi scandal, Hillary Clinton infamously screamed “what difference at this point does it make?” to questions about her response to the attack that resulted in the deaths of multiple Americans.
So if those examples are any indication, Schiff is going to regret this decision.
It could be what ultimately destroys his impeachment hoax.
He is already losing support rapidly.
Polling shows that in recent days, support for impeachment has fallen from 51 percent to 47 percent just in a few short days.
And that shouldn’t be very surprising.
Schiff began the impeachment hearings following claims from a “whistleblower” that Trump threatened Ukraine’s President in order to force him to investigate Joe Biden.
While that claim was thoroughly dispelled, Schiff is now focusing on obstruction, just like Democrats did after the Russia hoax fell apart.
So it is only a matter of time until the impeachment hoax falls apart just the same.
Once the American people get bored with it, Schiff will not be able to keep it going.
Do you think that Adam Schiff’s impeachment inquiry should be shut down?
