Donald Trump’s lawyers have one job, which is to protect the president.
But with how out of the box and independent Trump is, it is sometimes hard to keep him on the same page.
And Trump just signaled he is going to ignore his lawyers on one issue, and they are working overtime to stop him from doing that.
Donald Trump’s legal team seems to have had a fairly easy job in recent weeks.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has made virtually no progress in his investigation, which is really just a witch hunt designed to take down Trump and anybody close to him.
And while they have now set their sights on Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, and former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, they seem to have nothing on Trump.
That one fact says a lot about Trump’s character.
While digging through the pasts of Cohen and Manafort, Mueller has had little problem finding things, while completely unrelated to Trump, to use in order to indict both of them.
But he hasn’t been able to find anything on his biggest target, President Donald Trump.
Through his lifetime in business and as a public figure, nothing can be found that’s bad enough to result in any legal action.
That is sure to infuriate Mueller, who has spent the past year set on the fact that Trump colluded with Russia in order to win the 2016 election.
That’s why Mueller has found a new scheme to try to find dirt on Trump, and it involved talking to Trump himself.
But not just talking to Trump, it would be a full-on interview with his special counsel, and would all be under oath.
That one fact has been enough to put Trump’s legal team on full alert, as an interview under oath would open up a whole world of opportunity for Mueller. It would give him the opportunity he’s been waiting to get or create dirt on Donald Trump.
While Trump almost certainly has nothing in his past bad enough for Mueller to latch in on, Mueller could create problems for him, abusing the fact that the president would be under oath.
If a person is under oath and says something that is dishonest, it can result in them being charged with perjury, which can result in jail time.
In order to perjure Trump, it could be as easy as tricking him into talking on a subject that he either is not well acquainted with or is misinformed on.
If he were to say anything wrong, it would give Mueller the chance to finally indict the President of the United States.
So Trump’s legal team wants to avoid that at all costs. But Trump does not.
He has consistently made it clear that he wants to interview with Mueller and clear his name.
In theory that is a very good thing, and if Mueller was an honest person, it would be a good strategy.
But Trump’s eagerness to speak with Mueller should be nerve-racking to anybody who supports him, but in fairness, he has continually proven himself right, even at times when most others were confused about what he was doing.
