Tucker Carlson routinely mocks Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for being one of the dumbest people in Washington.
But this is a real scandal.
And Tucker Carlson exposed a secret that will ruin Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Thanks to socialist government policies that helped drive the cost of college tuition out of the control there are 1.6 trillion dollars in student loan debt outstanding in America.
New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the loudest voices on the left demanding Joe Biden bail out student loan borrowers and wipe out their debt.
This would be a nearly two-trillion-dollar transfer of wealth from largely working-class Americans to the 38 percent of Americans that went to college and a majority of whom now vote for Democrats.
But there is self-dealing going on here.
Daily Caller investigative reporter Gabe Kaminsky told Tucker Carlson more than 12 Democrats in Congress — including Ocasio-Cortez — who owe as much as $1.5 million in student loan debt want Joe Biden to use the taxpayers to wipe out their own student loan obligations.
“There’s more than a dozen Democratic members of Congress, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of financial disclosures, who not only owe up to $1.5 million in student loan debt or have reported that amount for themselves, or a spouse, or a child, but have supported federal student loan cancellation,” Kaminsky said on Carlson’s show.
Kaminsky explained Democrats demanding the government eliminate student loan debt stood to financially benefit from a taxpayer-funded bailout scheme.
“Regardless, it’s absolutely something that the American people should be aware of, and I think that whether or not they support this policy because of their own student loans, you know, it’s inherently sort of arguably a conflict of interest and it’s something that people should know about,” Kaminsky added.
Ocasio-Cortez owes $50,000 in student loan debt.
And the government wiping out her debt would be a financial windfall for the socialist congresswoman who often complains the $174,000 per year congressional salary makes it difficult to maintain a residency in Washington and her New York District.
“I think a very reasonable question is how do they stand to benefit from this?” Kaminsky added. “As you pointed out, most Americans do not go to college and, as you pointed out, why should they necessarily foot the bill for elites sitting up in Capitol Hill?”
Bailing out student loan debt is a slap in the face not just to the 62 percent of Americans that do not have a college degree.
It also insults those Americans that worked their way through college so they could graduate debt free or who played by the rules and paid off their loans once they graduated.
