Robert Mueller’s anti-Trump Russia investigation has taken a weird turn.
After running for over a year, it could come to an end without any action needed by Trump.
And it all stems from an unsolved apparent murder.
An Apparent Murder Six Decades Ago
In 1956 a university professor and political activist went missing.
Investigators believe it was a kidnapping case which may have ended in murder.
There are indications his body is in the Dominican Republic.
The investigation into the missing man also involves the death of an American pilot.
Now there is a push to release evidence around the case that has not seen the public’s eye.
Arguments for its release will happen next month.
Those arguments will take place in the same building Mueller’s grand jury meets just two floors below.
And as it turns out, that could cause huge problems for Robert Mueller.
While it has nothing to do with Mueller’s investigation, but the decision could throw a wrench in the entire probe.
You see, if the judge rules that the Justice Department doesn’t have the freedom to release grand jury information in the murder case it will stop Mueller from doing the same.
Lawyers believe it could even stop Mueller from releasing the information to Congress.
That will create a huge problem from Democrats looking for information in the report to push Trump’s impeachment.
And Robert Mueller is well aware of that.
Democrats are already trying to find a way around it.
Taking Back The House
One way around a potential ruling blocking the release of information around Mueller’s investigation is through a Congressional subpoena.
If Democrats had control of the House they could easily do that.
But for the time being, the case creates a major problem for them.
Considering that Democrats want the report for use in impeachment hearings, Republicans will be unlikely to oblige.
So this change creates new urgency for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections.
But the numbers aren’t looking good for them.
Despite past optimism, Democrats are beginning to realize that the odds are stacked against them.
While they are trying to convince the American people that Trump is failing, the economy isn’t.
Huge Economic Growth
Taking back the House and Senate will come down to the American people’s opinion on President Trump.
As the leader of the Republican Party, he is the most important figure.
With unemployment at historic lows and the stock market at historic highs, things are looking good for him.
So taking back the House will be a difficult task.
And if they can’t, it’s game over.
Mueller’s investigation is the Democrat’s last hope to take down Trump.
While it is unlikely he will be able to provide anything impeachable, Democrats are hopeful.
With how biased the investigation has been there’s no telling what his report will say.
But its release will all come down to the results of the midterms.
