Democrats believe the worst about America.
And Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is no different.
What Schumer did on July 4th will make your stomach turn.
July 4th is one day where all Americans can come together and celebrate the freedom the founders won during the Revolutionary War.
Their victory gave birth to America, which became the greatest force for good in human history.
The nation’s birthday is an occasion to celebrate the fact that Americans live in the freest nation ever formed.
But to Chuck Schumer and the Democrats it is just another day to stage partisan warfare and advance a divisive social agenda.
Liberals are petrified that Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement spells doom for their radical social agenda.
The left has imposed their belief in abortion on demand and the radical homosexual agenda through court cases because they know they could never pass these policies through legislation.
Democrats are gearing up for a massive fight over President Trump’s nominee to replace Kennedy and Schumer used the Fourth of July to establish that the left is on war footing.
Instead of using Independence Day to celebrate American freedom, Schumer took to social media to push the idea that America is great because of aborting babies and homosexual marriage.
Today, I am celebrating the FREEDOM of women to make their own health care decisions, as established by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade.
Today, I am celebrating the FREEDOM of every American to choose to marry the person they love, as established by the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges.
These tweets may play with a left-wing base that is demanding total war against Donald Trump, but they repulsed Americans who view the Fourth of July as a day free from politics.
Schumer is under heavy fire from the resistance to pull out all the stops to block Trump’s eventual nominee.
But the reality is there is nothing Schumer can do to stop whomever Trump selects from being confirmed.
That’s because in 2013 Democrats – under Harry Reid’s leadership – eliminated the filibuster for all executive and judicial branch nominees except for the Supreme Court.
Then in 2017, Schumer bowed to liberal pressure and led a filibuster of Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to replace Antonin Scalia.
Liberals were furious that Mitch McConnell upheld the Biden rule and blocked a vote on Merrick Garland, Obama’s nominee to fill Scalia’s seat after Scalia passed away in February 2016.
So Schumer waged a doomed filibuster effort.
McConnell and the GOP responded by eliminating the filibuster for Supreme Court justices.
Thanks to the actions of Reid and Schumer, Democrats now have no power to keep Trump’s nominee from being confirmed.
Schumer’s only ability to satisfy his liberal base is through rhetorical flourishes.
But he chose to use the Fourth of July to celebrate attacking the right to life and the religious liberty.
Those are two of the principles the founders fought and bled for in order to win their independence from King George III.
