Donald Trump fought to confirm three conservative Supreme Court justices for this moment.
With Amy Coney Barrett replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, conservatives believe they have the vote to deal the Democrats significant defeats.
And William Barr just threw down an ultimatum that the Supreme Court can’t ignore.
In a speech before the Alliance Defending Freedom’s annual Edwin Meese III Award for Originalism and Religious Liberty, former Attorney General Barr attacked the anti-American and racist ‘Critical Race Theory’ Democrats deploy in schools.
Critical Race Theory applies Marxist teachings that claim America is a racist country that was built on systemically racist institutions that oppress minorities and promote white supremacy.
“Over the past 12 tumultuous months, there has been a great deal of discussion about the radical ideology being promoted in our schools, and what it means for national unity, public safety, and the health of our politics,” Barr began.
Barr noted that leftists deploy Critical Race Theory to brainwash students to hate Americans based on their skin color and ultimately hate their country.
“One of the main justifications for the common school movement was that they would be institutions to effectuate the melting pot—to promote our common identity, to promote a solidarity based on being an American. But now the schools have taken on the opposite mission of separating us, of teaching unbridgeable differences, of dividing us into many different identities destined to be antagonistic,” Barr added.
Barr told the audience that Critical Race Theory violated the Constitution, laying the groundwork for a potential Supreme Court challenge to this racist ideology.
“We must confront the reality that it may no longer be fair, practical, or even constitutional to provide publicly-funded education solely through the vehicle of state-operated schools,” Barr added.
After Amy Coney Barrett replaced Ruth Bader Ginsburg, conservatives believe they have five votes without Chief Justice John Roberts.
After several terms of laying off controversial cases to advance conservative goals, the Court’s conservatives got more aggressive about taking on cases involving guns and abortion next term.
It’s not hard to imagine how Critical Race Theory could one day wind up before the Supreme Court.
Barr continued on stating that states could also attack Critical Race Theory by passing legislation to change how schools are funded to allow state money to follow the child instead of flowing to the school.
If parents had the ability to take what the state allocated for their child on a per-pupil basis to spend as they saw fit on their child’s education, it could help rid schools of Critical Race Theory as schools that taught this divisive curriculum would lose significant chunks of their students and therefore their funding.
“Public funding of education does NOT require that instruction must be delivered by means of government-run schools. The alternative is to have public funds travel with each student, allowing the student and the parents to choose the school—private, public, sectarian, or non-sectarian—that best fits their needs and the dictates of their conscience,” Barr explained.
Republican states are beginning to ban the anti-American Critical Race Theory.
But Bill suggests the final battlefield will be at the Supreme Court.
