Democrats are on a warpath to take down Attorney General William Barr.
He is a fair, incorruptible figure, which is the worst thing possible for Democrats.
And he just scored the huge win he’s been waiting for.
Simply working for President Trump is enough for Democrats to go on the attack.
Unless an administration figure is willing to join in the deep state’s resistance to President Trump, they become an enemy that must be destroyed.
That is what is happening to William Barr.
Following the release of Robert Mueller’s report into Russia collusion, Barr is the official who delivered the news that Trump did not collude with Russians.
And Democrats are still furious about that.
While most of America is grateful that the witch hunt is over, and that the President is a legitimate President, Democrats are angry.
They were counting on Robert Mueller’s report to be the smoking gun to finally impeach President Trump.
And they still aren’t giving up on that hope.
The House Judiciary Committee is pushing forward with demands for more information about the report, including the full unredacted report.
But the redactions in the report are simply to comply with the law, and if Barr releases them, he is violating the law.
Despite that fact, Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee already advanced a vote to hold Barr in contempt.
And that vote was supposed to hit the entire House this week.
But now House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler is backing off, stating that the Justice Department is giving them some of the information they are requesting.
“I am pleased to announce that the Department of Justice has agreed to begin complying with our committee’s subpoena by opening Robert Mueller’s most important files to us, providing us with key evidence that the Special Counsel used to assess” obstruction, Nadler said in a statement.
Nadler continued on making it clear that the battle against Barr may not be over:
“If the Department proceeds in good faith and we are able to obtain everything that we need, then there will be no need to take further steps. If important information is held back, then we will have no choice but to enforce our subpoena in court and consider other remedies.”
This is a major victory for Barr, who is simply trying to do his job.
It now means that he can continue working, which includes complying with requests from the House Judiciary Committee.
This is something that Barr has been more than willing to do since his first day in his position.
But it is impossible to work with a committee that is threatening contempt votes if they don’t get their way.
That threat is gone for now but could pop up at any time.
Nadler continues to prove that he isn’t truly willing to find the truth behind the Mueller report.
If he was serious about that, he would be looking into the origins of the Russia investigation, which begins during the Obama administration.
But that will likely mean bad news for Democrats, which Nadler will never want to discover.
