The fury on the left directed at the Supreme Court is reaching dangerous levels.
Liberals want conservative justices in jail.
And you won’t believe what crime a senator just accused Brett Kavanaugh of committing.
The latest grasping at straws on the left to pressure Supreme Court justices to vote to uphold Roe v. Wade is floating the idea that Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch perjured themselves at their confirmation hearings.
This deranged theory rests on the thin reed that the four conservatives lied by claiming Roe v. Wade was settled law when they intended to overturn it.
None of this is even remotely close to being true as “settled law” has no legal meaning and the Supreme Court reverses precedents on occasion.
New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand advanced this pressure tactic in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Gillibrand accused the justices of “misleading” senators in private meetings where they supposedly pledged to uphold Roe v. Wade.
“Four justices in the last hearings I’ve witnessed have said that precedent matters and that precedent is the foundation of our legal system. And so if they just feel they can just up-end this precedent because they don’t like it today, well, that’s inconsistent with what they promised the judges – excuse me, what they promised the senators who voted for them. If you look at the statements of both Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, they truly believe their statements were inconsistent with what they told them,” Gillibrand stated.
That never happened.
No nominee would pledge in advance how they would vote in any case that could potentially come before them.
Host Jake Tapper pressed Gillibrand on that point.
Tapper asked Gillibrand if she believed Barrett, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Alito perjured themselves.
“You said the five Supreme Court justices lied in their confirmation hearings when they said Roe v. Wade was precedent. Are you accusing them of committing perjury?” Tapper asked.
Gillibrand responded by accusing the four of committing the crime of fraud by misrepresenting themselves in their testimony.
“You know, I come at this issue from the perspective of a lawyer who worked in fraud all the time. Corporate fraud. If a corporation put these kinds of statements in their quarterly filings, they would be seen to be purposefully misleading and would be deemed fraud. So, I think all their statements should be looked at very, very carefully,” Gillibrand shot back.
Democrats continue to descend into madness as it looks like the Supreme Court has the votes to strike down Roe v. Wade.
Mobs of angry and crazed pro-abortion fanatics marched on the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices.
But it is not enough for the left to terrorize the families of those justices.
Now prominent Democrat elected officials are floating potential criminal charges as a threat to force at least one of the conservatives on the Supreme Court to change their vote.
