Joe Biden’s grip on the Democrat Party continues to loosen.
No one ever thought it would come to this.
And now you’ll never guess what actually caused Democrats to turn on Joe Biden.
Joe Biden’s poll numbers actually began their downward slide in July when Biden – who promised to “crush the virus” during the 2020 campaign – began imposing new mask mandates instead of moving on with telling everyone to go back to normal life as it existed in 2019.
But Biden and the left’s allies in the corporate media mistakenly believed the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan caused Biden’s polling slide instead of accelerating Biden’s declining job approval numbers.
Biden and so-called “journalists” mistakenly believed California Governor Gavin Newsom surviving a recall effort was a sign that tyrannical and un-American vaccine mandates were the key to Democrats retaining control of Congress in 2022.
That led to Biden imposing an authoritarian federal vaccine mandate targeting federal contractors, employers with more than 100 workers and health care facilities that accepted Medicare and Medicaid funds.
Then a funny thing happened.
Federal judges all across the country struck down all three federal vaccine mandates and Joe Biden’s numbers continued plunging as Americans tired of Joe Biden’s permanent pandemic.
The death knell for vaccine mandates came from Democrat governors facing the voters in 2022.
Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer imposed some of the strictest lockdowns and mask mandates during the pandemic.
Those useless gestures grated on voters and Whitmer’s approval sunk right alongside Joe Biden’s.
Whitmer is up for re-election next year in what will be one of the most closely watched races in the country.
Donald Trump won Michigan in 2016 and it barely swung back to Biden in 2020.
Pundits will look to the Whitmer re-election race to see the emerging 2024 trends.
And Whitmer believes the political currents run against Democrats as even the fanatically pro-mask and pro-lockdown Whitmer tried to create distance between herself and Biden by opposing vaccine mandates.
“We’re an employer too, the state of Michigan is,” Whitmer stated. “I know if that mandate happens, we’re going to lose state employees. That’s why I haven’t proposed a mandate at the state level. Some states have. We have not, we’re waiting to see what happens in court.”
It’s not just Democrats in swing states running away from vaccine mandates.
Blue state governors want nothing to do with Soviet-style “papers, please” vaccine requirements.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul – who took over after Andrew Cuomo stepped down – threw cold water on a statewide vaccine mandate after the New York City mayor imposed a vaccine mandate on every private sector employer in the city.
“I support the local government leaders to execute the policies to fight COVID as they believe will be most helpful to deal with this pandemic in their own jurisdictions,” Hochul began.
“I believe that where necessary there should be a statewide approach, but when not necessary or we’re waiting for more data, we should have a more surgical approach,” Hochul added.
Joe Biden gambled his presidency and the Democrats’ 2022 political fortunes on vaccine mandates.
Two months later Biden’s bet looks to be among the worst in recent American political history.
