Democrats are desperate for a leader to emerge.
There is one name that would unite the paryt.
And Michelle Obama made this final decision about running in 2028.
As 2025 Battelground reports:
In the 2020 and 2024 election cycles, every top Democrat pined for Michelle Obama to jump off the sidelines and into the race.
Obama was the most popular Democrat in America and party leaders counted her as their best bet to win the White House.
But Michelle Obama refused to run either time.
It’s long been known that Michelle Obama hates politics.
Even if she didn’t have to campaign in a primary and the party handed her the nomination on a silver platter, Michelle still wouldn’t have run in 2020 or 2024.
That hasn’t stopped Democrats from hoping the former First Lady can rescue the party from the political abyss it’s fallen into following the 2024 election defeat.
But Michelle Obama isn’t going to ride to the rescue in 2028, either.
Obama discussed her political future in a podcast interview with Kylie Kelce and made it clear she wasn’t running for President under any circumstances.
“I was so glad when we got out of the White House,” Michelle Obama said.
Obama said her main concern was her two daughters Sasha and Malia and giving them the most normal life possible for children of a former President.
“I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them. They still are dealing with paparazzi and being who they are and trying to carve out their own identity,” Obama added.
Michelle Obama then confirmed again that she would not – under any circumstances – run for President – ever.
“When people ask me, would I ever run [for office], the answer is no,” Michelle Obama added.
The former First Lady told Kelce that everyone speculating about her running for office “have absolutely no idea the sacrifice that your kids make when your parents are in that role.”
Obama said she and her husband had their turn at the wheel and it was time for them to worry about their family.
“Not only am I not interested in politics in that way but the thought of putting my girls back into that spotlight when they are just now establishing themselves — we’ve done enough,” Michelle Obama continued.
And just to put a pin in it, Obama said the “question [has been] asked and answered” and a Michelle Obama Presidential campaign is “never gonna happen.”
Obama said she didn’t want to put her kids through another grind in the spotlight.
“They’ve already served their time. … It would be unthinkable. Nope,” Obama said of the family.
