Ilhan Omar is no stranger to picking fights with President Trump.
But this is the biggest battle of them all.
And Ilhan Omar is going to war with Trump in this ugly fight.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
The left believes momentum is on its side with the Real Clear Politics polling average showing Democrats holding a 4.8% lead in the generic ballot of which party voters want to see control Congress.
But some Democrats are getting drunk on the poll numbers and getting out over their skis.
In a town hall meeting, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said if Democrats win power, they will abolish ICE and dismantle the Department of Homeland Security.
“What I will say is that there is an easier conversation happening today than six, seven years ago when I got to Congress, about what we need to do with ICE, which is to abolish it,” Omar ranted.
But some Democrats are growing nervous.
They understand that voters don’t want to see law enforcement eliminated.
Third Way, a leftist group that advises Democrats to fake moderation on the campaign trail, warned that the last two presidential elections showed voters will punish Democrats who want to “abolish ICE or “defund the police.”
A memo from the group read:
In the 2024 election cycle, Republicans spent a $741 million on immigration-related smear ads that devastated Democrats. Attacking these Democratic calls was central to the success of much of that advertising, both against Democratic candidates who openly called for ICE’s abolishment and even against those who never did.
In 2020, widespread outrage over police violence created a genuine opening for accountability reforms, including changes to qualified immunity. But that opening narrowed—and ultimately closed—when “defund the police” became the dominant frame. The slogan was easy to weaponize. It hardened opposition. And it helped preserve the very systems reformers sought to change.
Polls currently show Democrats positioned for victory in November.
But Donald Trump won two Presidential Elections running on a backlash to Democrats’ open borders policies.
And leading party members like Ilhan Omar are staking increasingly radical positions on immigration that could alienate swing voters.
