Megyn Kelly had to speak this truth.
Her audience was left stunned.
And Megyn Kelly announced one death that will upend everything.
As American Media Watchdog reports:
Some conservatives held out hope that Paramount-Skydance boss David Ellison’s installation of Bari Weiss as the head of CBS News would end the outlet’s liberal bias.
Weis quit her job as a New York Times columnist over woke ideology overtaking the paper’s newsroom.
But Megyn Kelly knew better.
While Weiss is supposedly anti-woke – she supports censorship of speech critical of Israel, she is also a conventional liberal who supports mass immigration into America and regime change wars in the Middle East.
Kelly said fixing CBS News was hopeless as “legacy media is dead.”
“Nothing will happen at CBS,” Kelly posted to X. “Nothing. Legacy media is dead, and evening news has been totally irrelevant for a long time. CBS has not had evening viewers in any competitive way in more than a decade. It’s not reversible.”
Kelly’s comments came in reaction to a statement by new CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil.
One of Weiss’s first moves at CBS was naming Dokoupil the nightly news anchor.
Dokoupil released a statement claiming to understand why Americans didn’t trust the press.
“I get it. I’ve been hearing about it from just about everybody, for more than 20 years, as I’ve traveled America on assignment. My mom’s neighbors in West Virginia. My own neighbors in New York City. Thousands of conversations in between,” Dokoupil stated.
Dokoupil claimed he could sense the media existed in a leftist bubble.
“I know this because, at certain points, I have been you. I have felt that way too. I have felt like what I was seeing and hearing on the news didn’t reflect what I was seeing and hearing in my own life. And that the most urgent questions simply weren’t being asked,” Dokoupil added.
Dokoupil claimed he would put viewers, and not the liberal agenda, first.
“So here’s my promise to you, as long as I sit in this chair: you come first. Not advertisers. Not politicians. Not corporate interests. And, yes, that does include the corporate owners of CBS,” Dokoupil declared.
But CBS’s first big test under Bari Weiss showed that the new liberal boss was the same as the old liberal boss.
Independent journalist Nick Shirley went viral for posting a video exposing $110,000,000 in federal payments to fraudulent Somali-run daycare centers in Minnesota.
CBS tried to debunk Shirley’s report with a so-called “fact check” where the liberal journalist claimed Shirley was misleading Americans by reading off copy from a Minnesota state government website.
Bari Weiss is still a liberal.
Megyn Kelly said CBS’s placing her in charge of their news division shows how hopelessly lost the liberal executives who oversee these outfits are.
And the early CBS work product under Weiss justified Kelly’s pessimism.
