Establishment Republicans thought they could get away with defying President Trump.
But one of the biggest Trump-haters got some bad news.
And Donald Trump smacked a RINO turncoat with this nasty curveball.

A Trump endorsement is the determining factor in who wins a GOP primary.
RINO Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana was hoping Trump would stay on the sidelines of his re-election race.
Cassidy voted to convict Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax.
And Cassidy is one of Big Pharma’s favorite Republicans for his repeated attacks on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy’s MAHA agenda.
Cassidy falsely claimed Kennedy would make America “sicker” by reducing the number of recommended childhood vaccinations from 17 to 11, so America would be more in line with the rest of the developed world.
But Cassidy’s hopes that he could avoid a Trump-backed challenger in 2026 went up in smoke when Trump posted on Truth Social that he was encouraging Louisiana Congresswoman Julia Letlow to run against Cassidy.
“Highly respected America First Congresswoman, Julia Letlow, of the wonderful State of Louisiana, is a Great Star, has been from the very beginning, and only gets better! I am hearing that Julia is considering launching her Campaign for the United States Senate in Louisiana, a place I love and WON BIG six times, including Primaries, in 2016, 2020, and 2024!” Trump wrote.
Trump formed a close relationship after Julia won a special election to fill the seat her husband vacated when he passed away from COVID.
“I know Julia well, have seen her tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and she is a TOTAL WINNER! A Proud Mother of two children, Julia is a wonderful person, has ALWAYS delivered for Louisiana, and would continue doing so in the United States Senate,” Trump added.
Trump went on to say that he could count on Letlow to support his America First agenda.
“As your next Senator, Julia will work tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Support our Amazing Farmers and Fishermen, Champion Louisiana Oil & Gas, Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump continued.
And Trump added that if Letlow entered the race, she would have his endorsement.
“Should she decide to enter this Race, Julia Letlow has my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, JULIA, RUN!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump concluded.
Pundits speculated that Letlow would only enter the race against Cassidy if Trump endorsed her.
Now that Trump said he would endorse her, Letlow sounded like a candidate.
“I’m honored to have President Trump’s endorsement and trust. My mission is clear: to ensure the nation our children inherit is safer and stronger.
This United States Senate seat belongs to the people of Louisiana, because we deserve conservative leadership that will not waver,” Letlow wrote on X.
Cassidy is symbolic of a red state problem for Republicans.
Conservatives have long complained that RINOs like Cassidy, Lindsey Graham, and Mitch McConnell hold Senate seats in some of the reddest states in America yet effectively function as Democrats.
Trump supporters see the President looking to oust Cassidy as a corrective step.
