Democrats are playing defense.
One of their crown jewels of policy is now on the chopping block.
And Democrats never knew what hit them when Pam Bondi launched this bold legal attack.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
Going back decades, tyrannical governments such as 1930s Germany, the Soviet Union, Communist China, and North Korea maintain authoritarian control by banning and confiscating firearms from civilians.
The Founding Fathers placed the right to keep and bear arms as the Second Amendment because it protects the First Amendment rights of freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and petitioning the government.
Conservatives contend Democrats plot to seize firearms as part of their plot to impose socialism on America.
President Trump pledged America would never become a socialist nation.
That’s why his administration is suing the District of Columbia over its unconstitutional ban on so-called “assault rifles.”
A Department of Justice Press release stated that “the D.C. Code provides a broad registration ban on numerous firearms — an unconstitutional incursion into the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens seeking to own protected firearms for lawful purposes.”
In 2008, the Supreme Court handed down the landmark Heller decision, which for the first time codified the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental right.
The court also held that states couldn’t ban firearms in common use.
For years, gun-grabbing Democrats fearmongered about these firearms, describing them as “weapons of war” and “semi-automatic” rifles to make them sound like machine guns.
But political economist and assistant professor William English of Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business conducted a survey in which he found that 24 million Americans owned 44 million AR-style firearms.
That would fit any definition of common use.
Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Civil Rights Division explained that under President Trump, the Second Amendment was no longer a second-class right.
“Today’s action from the Department of Justice’s new Second Amendment Section underscores our ironclad commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans,” Bondi stated.
“Washington, DC’s ban on some of America’s most popular firearms is an unconstitutional infringement on the Second Amendment — living in our nation’s capital should not preclude law-abiding citizens from exercising their fundamental constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” Bondi added.
“This Civil Rights Division will defend American citizens from unconstitutional restrictions of commonly used firearms, in violation of their Second Amendment rights,” Dhillon declared.
“The newly established Second Amendment Section filed this lawsuit to ensure that the very rights D.C. resident Mr. Heller secured 17 years ago are enforced today — and that all law-abiding citizens seeking to own protected firearms for lawful purposes may do so,” Dhillon concluded.
