Led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democrats refused to fund the department unless Trump agreed to a series of policy changes that would neuter ICE and end the ability of the federal government to deport illegal aliens.
Democrats shut down Homeland Security to create chaos at airports since the TSA falls under Homeland Security’s umbrella.
TSA agents are quitting or not showing up to work since they aren’t getting paid, leading to massive lines, delays, and disruptions at airports across the country.

But President Trump pulled an ace out of his sleeve.
Trump announced that he was deploying ICE agents to airports to pick up the slack, eliminate lines, and cut down on delays.
“The Radical Left Democrats have hurt so many people with their vicious and uncaring ways. What they have done to the Department of Homeland Security, our fantastic TSA Officers, and, most importantly, the great people of our Country, is an absolute disgrace,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“If the Democrats do not allow for Just and Proper Security at our Airports, and elsewhere throughout our Country, ICE will do the job far better than ever done before! The Fascist Democrats will never protect America, but the Republicans will. Just like the Radical Left allowed millions of Criminals to pour into our Country through their ridiculous and dangerous Open Border Policy, the Republicans closed it all down, and we now have the Strongest Border in American History,” Trump added.
“Likewise, I look forward to moving ICE in on Monday, and have already told them to GET READY.” NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE GAMES!” Trump concluded.
Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed the plan on CNN and told host Dana Bash that ICE agents would take up tasks that aren’t specialized to TSA, such as security and moving lines along, so the remaining TSA agents could focus on specialized jobs, such as manning the X-Ray machines.
“ICE agents are assigned at many airports across the country already,” Homan stated. “They do a lot of investigation, criminal investigation on smuggling at airports. But there’s—you got TSA agents covering exits, people that enter through the exits. Certainly, a highly trained ICE law enforcement officer can cover an exit and make sure people don’t go through those exits, entering the airport through the exits. And stuff like that relieves the TSA officer to go to screening and to reduce those lines.”
“Again, ICE has been at airports across the country for a long time,” he said. “It’s just expanding those things. Look, it doesn’t—how much of a plan does it mean to guard an exit to make sure no one comes through that exit? I mean, we’re talking about security options. And these officers are well-trained in security, and they’re well-trained in identification. And, look, we’re going to do what we can to help TSA move those people through the line,” Homan added.
