And Pam Bondi hit Letitia James with this nasty curveball.
Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t waste a second sending a message to sanctuary cities and states where Democrats think they can flout federal immigration law.
Bondi has barely been in the job for a week and already she dropped the hammer on the worst offender of all, New York State.
During a press conference, Bondi announced she was filing charges against James, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and Department of Motor Vehicle official Mark Schroeder over New York’s failure to enforce immigration law.
“We’re here today because we have filed charges against the state of New York,” Bondi declared. “We have filed charges against Kathy Hochul. We have filed charges against Letitia James and Mark Schroeder, who is with DMV. This is a new DOJ, and we are taking steps to protect Americans – American citizens,” Bondi stated.
Bondi told James and her cohorts that they brought these charges upon themselves.
“New York didn’t listen. So now, you’re next,” Bondi continued.
Bondi warned other sanctuary cities and states that while New York was first on the list, they certainly weren’t the last.
“If you are a state not complying with federal law, you’re next,” Bondi declared. “Get ready. And the great men and women of law enforcement are standing behind me today. We have FBI, DEF, DEA, ATF agents. They put their lives on the line every single day to protect us.”
Bondi sued New York over the state’s “Green Light Law” which prevented police from asking for the immigration status of suspects pulled over at traffic stops.
The attorney general explained that preventing police officers from checking on immigration status put their lives in danger as they would be unaware they pulled over an illegal alien with a history of violent crime or who belonged to a gang like MS-13.
“Law enforcement officers do not have access to their background, and if these great men and women pull over someone and don’t have access to their background, they have no idea who they’re dealing with, and it puts their lives on the line every single day. Violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, human smugglers will no longer terrorize the American people, and that is why we are here today. You will be held accountable if you do not follow federal law. It’s over, it ends, and we’re coming after you,” Bondi told reporters.
The American people elected Donald Trump to end the border crisis.
But solving the problem just doesn’t entail securing the border and mass deportations.
It also involves eliminating the magnets that attract illegal aliens which is why the Trump administration is cracking down on sanctuary cities and states.
