Democrats are hunting around for a plot to steal control of the Supreme Court.
But the left’s big maneuver just got foiled.
And this Democrat attack on the Supreme Court just got derailed by one unlikely source.
As Conservative Reboot reports:
Ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Democrats’ attacks on the conservative majority escalated.
When the conservative majority shredded the lawfare against Donald Trump with the Presidential immunity ruling, Democrats lost their minds.
Liberals attacked the Supreme Court as illegitimate and filled with partisan hacks.
CBS’s Jan Crawford told viewers that the left’s attacks on the court weren’t just wrong, they were a threat to democracy.
“You know, there is a narrative that the Supreme Court is corrupt. I mean, we saw that emerge in the wake of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, and now we see that they’re in the tank for Trump. Not only is that narrative overreported, but it is also patently false, and it is dangerous for the institution and the public’s faith and confidence in the rule of law. This is a conservative Supreme Court. It has been a conservative Supreme Court for 20 years. People can disagree and do disagree with their opinions, but it’s profoundly wrong to call it, or say corruption where there, in fact, is none,” Crawford said on Face the Nation.
The Supreme Court recently blocked President Trump from deploying the National Guard in Chicago, as evidence to back up Crawford’s point that it was wrong for Democrats to rip the Supreme Court as a Trump rubber stamp.
Crawford said the real story surrounding the court was that the conservative majority was trying to restore constitutional balance between the three branches of government.
“What’s underreported is any understanding of what this court’s been doing for the past 20 years: its views of its role vis-a-vis the other branches, how it sees the law, how it’s trying in its focus to restore some kind of accountability in our constitutional structure. Again, this is a functional court; it is consistent,” Crawford added.
One example of the court seeking to force the executive and legislative branches back in their proper constitutional boxes was the court overturning the Chevron defense.
Congress forfeited its legislative powers when the Chevron doctrine allowed federal agencies to make law through administrative interpretation.
By striking down Chevron, the court told Congress it had to write laws that specified what it meant, and it could no longer pass vague statutes and leave it up to the executive branch to determine implementation.
The decision also restored the executive branch to its proper role of implementing laws enacted by the legislative branch.
For all the left’s boasting about how they are the defenders of democracy, Crawford warned that Democrats’ smearing the court could cause the public to lose confidence in the rule of law, which would cripple democracy in America.
“If the public loses confidence in the rule of law, I don’t know what that means for democracy. And that’s why I think some of the rhetoric about corruption is so, so profoundly irresponsible,” Crawford declared.
Democrats attacked the court’s legitimacy for two reasons.
The first is because liberals were furious about losing key cases,s such as the Presidential immunity ruling and overturning Roe v. Wade.
But Democrats also attacked the court because it’s one institution they don’t control.
Fear of public backlash stymied Democrats from packing the Supreme Court when Joe Biden was President.
Democrats hope that bombarding the public with lies about the Supreme Court will soften the ground so the next time Democrats control Congress and the White House, they can entrench a permanent leftist majority by packing the Supreme Court.
