The unprecedented victory of a right-wing candidate has Democrats very upset.
But Donald Trump has hopes for the future.
And Trump said four words about this victory that sent the left wild.
Former President Donald Trump congratulated Argentina’s President-elect Javier Milei for his unprecedented win and said he hopes Milei will “make Argentina great again.”
“A very special congratulations to Javier Milei on a great race for president of Argentina,” Trump said in his video message to the President-elect posted on Truth Social.
“The whole world was watching, and I am very proud of you. You will turn your country around and truly make Argentina great again – congratulations!”
Milei, a right-wing libertarian, has been supportive of Trump’s policies for years.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson in September, Milei praised Trump as “one of the few who fully understood that the fight is against socialist, it’s against statists, and perfectly understood that the generation of wealth comes from the private sector.”
When Carlson asked Milei how he would advise Trump in his 2024 campaign, he said, “Don’t give the socialists any respite, not even for a second.”
Milei told Carlson, “[Trump]is one of the few who understood fully that the fight is against socialism, it’s against statists, and perfectly understood that the generation of wealth comes from the private sector.”
“The state does not create wealth; it only destroys it. The state cannot give anything because it doesn’t produce anything, and when it wants to do so, it does so badly,” Milei continued.
“From my humble position, I would say [to Trump] to redouble efforts from the same position – don’t give the socialists any respite, not even for a second.”
Trump also called Milei to congratulate him and expressed plans to meet with the President-elect soon.
“The president-elect received a call last night from the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, who congratulated him and pointed out his triumph by a wide margin in last Sunday’s election had a great impact on a global scale,” a news release from Milei’s office said.
“Trump anticipated that he will travel to the City of Buenos Aires to meet with him,” the statement concluded.
President Biden spoke with Milei as well.
Biden congratulated Milei and spoke of “the strong relationship between the United States and Argentina on economic issues, on regional and multilateral cooperation, and on shared priorities, including advocating for the protection of human rights, addressing food insecurity and investing in clean energy.”
