Democrats were dreading this news.
It hit them like a punch to the guy.
And Kamala Harris made one head turning announcement about replacing Joe Biden.
Special counsel Robert Hur ripped the scab off with his report about Joe Biden stealing classified documents.
Hur reported that even if he could, he wouldn’t take this case to trial as no jury would believe Joe Biden is mentally competent to face criminal charges.
In the report, Hur backed up his claim a jury wouldn’t convict Biden by detailing how Biden couldn’t remember which year he started serving as vice president or when he left office.
Biden also couldn’t offer a rough guess as to the year his son Beau passed away following his battle with brain cancer.
To make matters worse, Biden then defended himself from this report in a disastrous primetime press conference where he confused the president of Egypt for the president of Mexico.
This all came after Biden told crowds that in 2021 he spoke to François Mitterrand, the former president of France who died in the late 20th century and former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who passed away in 2017.
Joe Biden is running for re-election.
No one can force him to resign, nor can any other Democrat defeat him for the nomination.
But an ABC/Ipsos poll found that 86 percent of Americans think Joe Biden is too old to serve as president.
And that’s forced Democrats to confront the reality that Americans believe a vote for Joe Biden is really a vote for Kamala Harris as few think it realistic that Biden would serve a complete second term.
A potential President Kamala Harris is a huge problem for Democrats as she is the most unpopular vice president in polling history.
The most recent NBC poll found just 28 percent of Americans approve of Harris.
Harris tried to assuage these fears in an interview with the Wall Street Journal where she pronounced herself “ready to serve.”
“I am ready to serve,” Harris declared. “There’s no question about that,” Harris stated, claiming that anyone she deals with “walks away fully aware of my capacity to lead.”
That’s obviously not the case.
A former administration official who interacted with Harris in her capacity as border czar told Axios that Harris only served to throw gasoline on the fire at the border and make everything worse.
“She’s been at best ineffective, and at worst sporadically engaged and not seeing it was her responsibility. It’s an opportunity for her, and she didn’t fill the breach,” one former administration official told Axios.
Democrats know in their hearts Harris will lose to Biden.
Joe Biden knows this as well which is why he is determined to run and not pass the baton to Harris.
