Joe Biden held a hastily organized press conference at nearly 8 p.m. at night – it’s not uncommon for his public events to end in the early afternoon – to respond to special counsel Robert Hur’s report.
Hur wrapped up his investigation into Biden stealing classified documents.
And Hur’s report would have inflicted less political damage on Biden if he indicted him.
That’s because Hur explained he wouldn’t recommend charges against Biden because he is too feeble-minded to stand trial.
Hur defended this assertion by noting in one of his team’s two interviews with Biden that Biden couldn’t remember – or even hazard a reasonable guess – when his son Beau passed away from brain cancer.
“He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died. And his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him,” Hur recounted.
Hur also reported that Biden forgot when he was vice president and needed help remembering he was in office from 2009 to 2017.
In private, Biden raged about Hur exposing his mental decline by revealing Biden blanked when asked when his son died.
“I don’t need anyone, anyone, to remind me when he passed away,” POLITICO reported Biden ranting to top advisers. “How the hell dare he raise that.”
During what turned out to be potentially the most disastrous press conference an American president ever held, a snarling and confused Biden tried to deliver a message to the voters that he is mentally all there, and that Hur took a cheap shot by including the detail about Biden not knowing when his son died.
But that backfired big time.
When describing Beau’s death, Biden clutched the rosary beads he received after his son’s passing.
But Biden paused and couldn’t remember the name of the church that gave him the rosary.

At this same press conference Biden confused the presidents of Egypt and Mexico and incorrectly claimed humanitarian aid passed to Gaza through Mexico.
Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in the polls in large because voters no longer believe Biden is up to the task mentally of solving the nation’s problems.
