Democrats and the fake news media cheered the announcement that Soros-funded Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted Donald Trump for a nonexistent crime.
But the celebration may be short-lived.
And now Joe Biden just got some bad news about arresting Donald Trump.
Bragg’s office leaking that a grand jury voted to indict Trump did not disqualify Trump in the minds of GOP primary voters.
Instead, it united every wing of the party and even Trump’s presumed and current challengers for the GOP nomination behind him.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — Trump’s top rival for the 2024 Republican Party nomination — ripped Bragg for weaponizing the justice system while also declaring that the state of Florida would not assist in any extradition process for Trump to New York.
“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent. Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” DeSantis wrote on social media.
Former Vice President Mike Pence also rushed to Trump’s defense despite the fact that everyone expects Pence to run against Trump for the nomination.
“I think the unprecedented indictment of a former president of the United States on a campaign finance issue is an outrage. And it appears for millions of Americans to be nothing more than a political prosecution,” Pence told CNN.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin — who is also considering a run for the GOP nomination and is aligned with the GOP establishment — put out a statement in the immediate aftermath of the indictment announcement denouncing the charges as a political prosecution.
“It is beyond belief that District Attorney Alvin Bragg has indicted a former President and current presidential candidate for pure political gain. Arresting a presidential candidate on a manufactured basis should not happen in America,” Youngkin declared. “The left’s continued attempts to weaponize our judicial system erode people’s faith in the American justice system and it needs to stop.”
National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Steve Daines of Montana is a Mitch McConnell ally.
Daines, who also promised to actively spend money to defeat Trump-backed candidates and to prop up establishment RINOs in Senate primaries, nonetheless blasted Bragg as a “rogue DA.”
“Let’s call this what it is: a political prosecution from a rogue DA who campaigned on indicting @RealDonaldTrump. The American people will see through this prosecutorial misconduct,” Daines wrote on social media.
The American people also see Bragg’s case as tainted by politics with over 60 percent believing Bragg brought the case to hurt Trump’s electoral prospects.
“In the Quinnipiac poll, 62 percent of respondents said the district attorney’s case is mainly motivated by politics, including 93 percent of Republicans, 29 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of independents. Fewer than a third, 32 percent, said the case is mainly motivated by the law,” POLITICO reported.
Voters can see through this sham indictment for the politically motivated farce that it is.
The only question is how it will affect Trump in a general election.
