Everyone expected Democrats and the liberals in the fake news media to cheer Tucker Carlson’s firing.
But the GOP establishment also popped the champagne corks.
And you won’t believe why Republicans celebrated Fox News firing Tucker Carlson.
RINOs with deep ties to the D.C. swamp celebrated Carlson’s firing thinking that Fox News took the most prominent opponent of funding Joe Biden’s reckless war against Russia over Ukraine off the table.
Much like Democrats smearing Donald Trump as an agent of Russia, establishment Republicans slimed Carlson as an ally of Vladimir Putin.
“It’s a bad day for Vladimir Putin,” a Senate Republican aide told The Hill. “This takes one of the biggest critics of Ukraine war in Republican and conservative circles off the table.”
At the same time establishment Republicans wanted to dance on Carlson’s grave, some swamp creatures understood the risk they took by siding publicly with the left in cheering Carlson’s ouster.
“He wasn’t troubled by whether something was true or not. He was mean, irresponsible and dangerous,” one unnamed Republican senator told The Hill.
Mitt Romney is one senator who doesn’t care if everyone knows he is a RINO.
Romney claimed the war in Ukraine is “one of the greatest demonstrations of good versus evil we’ve seen in our lifetimes.”
In comments to The Hill, Romney seethed that Carlson built GOP opposition to a blank check for Joe Biden pushing the world to the edge of nuclear Armageddon with the disastrous decision to escalate the war against Russia.
“There have been some that have argued that he was setting foreign policy for the Republican Party, which I find to be bizarre. Certainly not for me,” Romney added. “To the primary [Republican] voter, the active participant, the grassroot voter, he’s a person they listen to and has a big influence.”
When asked if Carlson had a positive influence on the GOP Romney said, “it depends on the issue but I think with regards to Russia and Ukraine he was misguided.”
Romney also whined that Carlson showed video footage from the Capitol on January 6 that debunked the false narrative pushed by RINOs like Romney, the Democrat Party, the January 6 committee and the corporate media that Trump supporters staged an armed insurrection to overthrow the U.S. government.
“It’s really disheartening and disappointing that an intelligent person would take a stance defending people who break into the symbol of democracy here and around the world,” Romney added.
RINOs like Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney and John Cornyn hope 2024 is the year the establishment can wrest back control of the GOP from Donald Trump and his populist conservative supporters.
GOP elites who support open borders, endless wars abroad, and globalist trade deals think Fox News silencing Tucker Carlson will allow Fox News to turn into an anti-Trump channel that will nudge the GOP base to pick a more establishment-friendly nominee in 2024.
